Returns + Exchanges
We want you to be delighted with your new purchase. If you need to make a return, we're here to help. Please review your item(s) upon delivery. Retain packaging if you think a return may be necessary.

If you’re not completely satisfied with your purchase, email us at the address above to request a return or exchange for eligible items. Make sure you tell us your original order number, the item(s) you wish to return, and your reason for the return in the email.
We have a 7 day return policy, allowing you to request a return within seven (7) days of receiving your order.
To ensure the validity of all damage claims, we ask that customers reach out to us regarding damages/defects within 72 hours (3 days).
Eligibility for Returns
Please keep the following in mind during the return process:
- Be sure to retain the original packaging materials, receipt, and all merchandise tags for returns.
- Returns must be received at our studio in unused/unworn, in original condition within 30 days of receipt.
- Shipping and delivery charges are non-refundable.
- Returns will be refunded in the same form as original payment was made.
- Returns purchased with a gift card will be refunded with store credits.
- Returns will reflect original discounts and promotions.
Exceptions / Non-Returnable Items
Please keep in mind that returns and exchanges are not accepted in the following cases:
- The product has been used or damaged by the customer.
- More than 7 days have passed since delivery.
- More than 3 days have passed since delivery to notify us of damage or a defect.
- The product has natural variations in marble, stone, or wood.
- The product has procedural variations that are part of the manufacturing process.
- The product differs from your expectations.
- Item is final sale.
- Item is a gift card.
Additional cases:
- If the shipment returns due to the customer failing to pick up the shipment, we will deduct a restocking fee and the shipping costs. The remaining total will be refunded.
- If the shipment is returned due to the customer refusing to pay duties, we will deduct a restocking fee and the shipping costs. The remaining total will be refunded.
- If the package is lost, we do not offer refunds or reshipments. (Refer to “Risk of Loss”)
- If the customer has provided an incorrect shipping address, we do not offer refunds or reshipments.
Shipping Costs
Shipping and delivery charges are non-refundable under any circumstances. The customer is responsible for the cost of shipping returns.
Refund Process
Upon arrival to our studio, your returned item will be carefully inspected. If approved, exchanges, credits, or refunds will be issued for the purchase price minus the shipping fees. Tax will be refunded in accordance with applicable law. Refunds will be made in the same form as the original payment and will usually take 7 to 14 business days to post. We reserve the right to refuse returns or exchanges of items that are not in accordance with our aforementioned terms. If approved returns arrive to us under such conditions, we reserve the right to charge a fee for loss of value- up to the full price of the product.
*Please keep in mind that any product is vulnerable to damage during shipping. We ask that you carefully package the return in its original packaging.
*We strongly recommend purchasing insurance for your return shipment to avoid any issues, as we are not responsible for the cost of goods or shipping in the case of lost parcels.
Damages and Defects
In the event that you receive defective, incorrect or incomplete merchandise, please contact us right away so we can make it right. We have a 72-hour claim policy. Damage claims cannot be filed after three (3) days of receipt.
For faster assistance, please email us at support@mutedroom.com with the following included:
- Order and tracking number.
- Name of the item(s) you wish to address.
- Multiple photos(wide shots and close-ups) documenting the possible damages (if applicable), as well as the box and shipping label.
If your replacement item is backordered or out of stock, we’ll notify you as soon as we have the estimated arrival date, or work with you to find a suitable solution.
Final Sale
Items that are marked as “final sale” are ineligible for returns or exchanges. If there’s a problem with your order, please contact us within our 72-hour claim policy. Damage claims cannot be filed after three (3) days of receipt.
Cancellation Policy
Due to our streamlined processing and fulfillment, we may be unable to change or cancel an order once it’s been placed. However, we’ll always do the best we can to accommodate your request. We always allow the cancellation of ordered items that are on backorder or out of stock.
*Please Note: In-stock merchandise typically ships within 2–4 business days from the time an order is processed. Custom products are made just for you and therefore cannot be cancelled.

Shipping Cost:
For your convenience, we offer free shipping on US orders that meet or exceed $100, and international orders that meet or exceed $200. Any order amount below those thresholds will be charged a variable shipping rate dependent upon weight and destination. We partner with multiple worldwide shipping carriers to offer the most efficient methods. Customers are able to select and confirm the shipping method upon checkout.
Shipping Times:
All orders are processed and shipped from our studio in the United States. Domestically, orders will take an average of 2-7 business days to arrive once shipped. For international orders, please note that it can take between 7-21 days. Please review the shipping methods upon checkout for a more accurate estimate of shipping times.
We have an average fulfillment time of 3 days. However, as a small select shop, we ask that you allow us up to 7 due to possible delays from the other businesses/suppliers that we work with. Transit delays can occur due to various reasons that are out of our control— we cannot be held liable for a delay in delivery.
Pre-orders:
We can not guarantee a specific time frame for pre-orders however, as a rule of thumb, we recommend that you add an additional two weeks to our usual fulfillment time to estimate when a pre-ordered item will arrive. If you wish to obtain a more accurate time estimate, please email us regarding the specific order. All items that are ordered along with a pre-order product will be sent together with the pre-order once it becomes available. If you do not wish to wait, please place a separate order. All orders with pre-order products cannot be canceled.
Custom Orders:
Custom-orders include made-to-order, bespoke, and special-order items. All items that are ordered along with a custom-order product will be sent once the custom-order item arrives at our studio. If you do not wish to wait, please place a separate order. Custom-order products cannot be canceled or refunded. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding our custom-order products.
Duties:
Depending on the country, your package may be subject to customs duties or fees upon arrival. Be aware that your package can also be delayed by customs and subsequent charges may apply. The recipient of the parcel is required to cover potential taxes implemented by customs. Unfortunately, we have no control over these fees and cannot provide an estimate as to how much they may be. The fee may vary depending on your order value, country limits, and other factors based on the product itself. If you would like to know ahead of time, we encourage you to contact your local customs office. Refused and returned items will not be refunded.
Tracking:
You will receive a dispatch confirmation email with a tracking link to receive up to date information about your shipment worldwide. Our recommended method of tracking is through the origin carrier or 17track.net. In certain cases, parcels may not be trackable for a period of time before reaching the final carrier. Though this is normal, feel free to reach out to us if over a week has passed with no updates. Please note that we will do our best to assist, but if a package is stuck, lost, or requires a claim to be filed with the carrier for any reason, that is the sole responsibility of the customer (see “Risk of Loss’).
Risk of Loss:
All orders are pursuant to a FOB Origin shipment contract. This means that the risk of loss and title for such items pass to you upon our delivery to the carrier.

Here’s a guide on materials used across Muted Rooms’ Curated Collection, how to clean them, and what to avoid.
Stainless Steel
Care
- Stainless steel tableware and decor may arrive with black smudges or granules. These are residuals from polishing.
- Remove these residuals by firmly wiping them with an oiled cloth (baby oil does the trick).
- We recommend that the stainless steel tableware and decor are cleaned immediately after use, using mild soapy water and a brush with soft bristles or a sponge.
- Especially food with a high acid content (e.g. citrus fruits, mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, oil and vinegar dressings, spinach, and rhubarb) should be removed as it may damage and stain the surface.
- Dust regularly with a soft, damp cloth.
- Do not microwave.
Cleaning
- Stainless steel is dishwasher safe, however, we do not recommend it. The dishwasher may scratch the pieces- while the detergent and unwiped water may also leave marks or residue on the surface.
- Do not leave cutlery dirty or to soak overnight, as this can cause discoloration.
- Avoid leaving wet after washing.
- Stubborn stains may be removed carefully using steel polish.
- Please note that steel polish may have an abrasive effect, especially on surfaces with a chrome/mirror finish.
- When polishing steel with a hairline finish, please remember to follow the polishing lines, to maintain the finish.
- The best way to remove candle wax from candleholders is by rinsing in very hot water and wiping dry, using a soft dry cloth.
Aluminum
Care
- Aluminum pieces may arrive with black smudges or granules. These are residuals from polishing.
- Remove these residuals by firmly wiping them with an oiled cloth (baby oil does the trick)
- Dust regularly with a soft, damp cloth.
- Do not microwave.
Cleaning
- Aluminum products are not dishwasher safe.
- For daily cleaning and maintenance, we recommend using warm water and mild liquid soap. Use only brushes with soft bristles or a soft sponge.
- Please note that due to aluminum’s conductive qualities, the product may become very hot when cleaned with hot/boiling water.
- The best way to remove candle wax from candleholders is by rinsing in very hot water and wiping dry, using a soft dry cloth.
Plated/Coated Objects
Care
- Metal-plated objects may arrive with black smudges or granules. These are residuals from polishing.
- Remove these residuals by firmly wiping them with an oiled cloth (baby oil does the trick).
- Keep rough and sharp objects away from plated/coated surface.
- Please note that glass/porcelain cannot withstand boiling water as it may crack.
- Although our plated tableware will have a non-plated surface that is safer for eating, take extra care in gently removing food that has come in contact with the plating to avoid damage or chipping.
- Especially food with a high acid content (e.g. citrus fruits, mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, oil and vinegar dressings, spinach, and rhubarb) should be removed as it may damage and stain the surface.
- Dust regularly with a soft, damp cloth.
- Do not microwave.
Cleaning
- All plain (non-plated, non-coated) glass objects are dishwasher safe, however, handwashing using mild liquid soap is recommended.
- If a dishwasher is used, make sure this is clean and not overfilled. Balance rinse aid depending on water in your local area and ideally wash glasses on a different, low-temperature cycle to pots.
- Limescale deposits and corrosion may appear on glasses if the dishwasher is not used correctly.
- Avoid abrasive solvents, scrubber sponges, and kitchen cleaners.
Glass
Care
- Dust regularly with a soft, damp cloth.
- Please note that glasses cannot withstand boiling water as it may crack.
Cleaning
- All non-plated, non-coated glass objects are dishwasher safe, however, handwashing using mild liquid soap is recommended.
- If a dishwasher is used, make sure this is clean and not overfilled. Balance rinse aid and salt depending on water in your local area and ideally wash glasses on a different, low-temperature cycle to pots.

Plastic
Care
- Dust regularly with a soft, damp cloth.
- Keep rough and sharp objects away from surfaces to avoid scratches.
Cleaning
- Wash surfaces with a soft cloth or sponge dampened with a solution of mild detergent and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.
- Avoid abrasive solvents, scrubbers, and kitchen cleaners.
- Avoid washing in the dishwasher as even a low-temperature cycle can melt and warp plastic materials.
Wood
Care
- Avoid exposing wood to direct heat and sunlight.
- Maintain consistent humidity in the space to prevent excessive expansion and contraction of wooden pieces and joints.
- Wipe up spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth.
- Use coasters for drinks to prevent moisture from contacting surfaces.
- Use trivets for hot pans and dishes to prevent damage to finishes and underlying wood.
- Keep rough and sharp objects away from wood surfaces.
- Apply protective pads to the undersides of items being displayed on wood surfaces, including those with rubber feet or bumpers.
Cleaning
- Dust wood frequently with a soft, slightly damp lint-free cloth, and then wipe dry.
- Avoid using abrasives, harsh chemicals and aerosol-powered cleaners on finishes and veneers.
- Use waxes and oils as recommended with each product to maintain moisture and provide a protective coating. Apply these products only to the piece’s wood and veneer parts, always testing first on an inconspicuous spot.
- Maintain oiled veneers by very lightly brushing wood areas in the direction of the grain with a fine Scotchbrite pad, which will open the wood’s pores and remove fingerprints and dirt. Follow with oil as recommended, wiping off excess with a soft, dry cotton cloth and smoothing in the direction of the grain.
- Repair minor stains, scratches, and water rings by rubbing the surface lightly in the direction of the wood grain with No. 000 steel wool, and then applying a scratch-removing polish with a color and value that simulates the veneer.
- If surface scratches are deep, consult a professional wood refinisher.
Marble
Care
- Wipe up spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth.
- Avoid alkaline or acidic liquids, as they can break down the protective sealant on marble surfaces.
- Apply protective pads to the undersides of items being displayed on the stone surfaces.
Cleaning
- Remove surface stains with a product such as StoneTech Stone & Tile Cleaner by Laticrete. Follow the directions on the container, including spraying directly on the soiled area and wiping it with a clean, dry cloth.
- Avoid ammonia, bleach and highly alkaline or acidic cleaners.
Leathers/Pleathers/Suede
Care
- Vacuum leather regularly with an upholstery attachment to remove dust and dirt.
- Brush gently with a dry cloth, going with the grain.
- Place leather out of direct sunlight to help prevent fading and cracking.
- Regularly remove the zippered casings from seat and back cushions to fluff and rotate the cushion inside— This ensures even wear and extends the cushions’ lives.
Cleaning
- Refresh fabrics- including suede- by gently running over them with a lint brush or soft brush.
- Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry white cloth. Always blot from the outer edges inward to reduce the chance of a stain ring.
- Blot stains with clear, cool water. Avoid hot water, which can set a stain.
- Take special care not to rub when cleaning spills and stains, as it can ruin the material’s soft nap.
- If the stain is oil- or water-based, blot the area again with a clean white cloth, repeating as necessary.
- Remove gum and wax by placing a small plastic bag of ice on it, waiting for the material to harden, and then gently chipping it away. Repeat as necessary and blot any residual stain with a clean, damp white cloth.
- Brush pile fabrics lightly with a stiff bristle brush to remove minor stains and regain original appearance. Do not rub or use excessive force when brushing.
- Do not use cleaning solvents of any kind.
- Do not let water saturate the fabric or pool in its seams.
